I’m still traumatized – robbed NPP chairman

Awutu Senya East Constituency Vice Chairman, Yaw Darkwa who was allegedly robbed at gunpoint by armed police officers says he is still traumatised and has sleepless nights after the attack.

Making reference to the incidence which happened Wednesday around 11:45 PM, he said he can no longer go out because he fears for his life.

What happened yesterday has still left me in shock, I had to go to the hospital for a check-up; it was as though I was watching a movie,” he lamented on Adom News.

Fully-armed policemen with a police car, Nissan Hardbody, with the Registration Number GP 4348 allegedly accosted the 1st Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Awutu Senya East Constituency, Mr Darkwa, at gunpoint.

The incident occurred around 11:45 pm Tuesday during which they took away his white Daewoo Matiz car with registration number GW 1808-13 and an undisclosed amount of money.

The distraught chairman is demanding a new car from the Ghana police service as he readies to write his statement to the police.

The police in the Central Region have, however, denied the allegations of robbery, saying the Chairman was stopped for driving carelessly.

The police have since launched investigations into the matter.
