Ashanti Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress [NDC], Kwame Zu, says he is scandalised by a leaked tape that claims he knows the man who shot and killed one person at the Kumasi office of his party Monday afternoon.
The tape in question refers to an alleged telephone conversation in which Mr Azu was heard admitting that the killer was a member of the party’s vigilante group, ‘The Hawks’.
Mr Azu is alleged to have asked the person at the other side, a man identified as Abu of the telephone conversation to tone down on the matter as his party’s National leadership “deals” with the issue.

“Police know them and will arrest them today (Monday) . . . We know them and we will arrest them as soon as possible,” he was heard pleading with Abu.
But reacting to the audio, which is fast making rounds, the worried Ashanti Regional Secretary said the allegations were false.

According to him, he sees the move as a lazy job from some people who are bent on soiling his reputation.
“That voice going round on social media is not mine; I have not spoken to anyone or any relative of the deceased ever since the incident happened.
“In fact, I feel scandalised; this is libellous and ridiculous,” he noted.
He entreated all Ghanaians not to pay heed to the lies circulating on social media.
