I’m not surprised at Assembly election’s low turnout – Kwamena Duncan

Central Regional Minister, Kwamena Duncan, says he is not surprised the recent Assembly elections recorded a low turnout because that has been the case since time immemorial.

He said the situation is unfortunate since development stems from the local level.

“What is worrying is that, Assembly and District areas are where development starts from, every development project takes place in an electoral area within the district at the local level,” he told Accra-based Peace FM, monitored by Adomonline.com.

According to him, the just ended assembly election was an opportunity for Ghanaians to come out in their numbers to vote for competent people to lead them at the local level.

“This is where we would have had the opportunity to breed future politicians who will have gone through the process and appreciate the work better but unfortunately we have left it for a few,” he said.
