The President, Nana Akufo-Addo says he is not involved in any conspiracy to promote homosesuality in Ghana.
According to him, he is rather committed to protecting the customs and traditions of the country.
President Akufo-Addo made the comment in response to a question posed to him during a media encounter with the press at the Flagstaff house.
“I’m not involved in any conspiracy to promote homosexuality” he said.
According to the President, the social and cultural environment in the country does not give room for any such thing to be done.
The President had to state his position on same-sex relationships after he told an Al Jazeera journalist, Jane Dutton, that the practice could be legalised if Ghanaians called for it.
“…until there is a strong call by the society for this to be done, there is no way the laws will be changed”, the President told Jane Dutton in that interview.
This response was misconstrued by many who believe the President is preparing the ground to legalize homosexuality in Ghana.
