Popular Ghanaian actress, Christiana Awuni, has dismissed claims that she was paid by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to campaign for them.
In an interview with Zionfelix, Awuni firmly stated that her support for the NDC stems from principle, not greed.
“People say I have taken money to campaign for the NDC, but that’s not true,” she clarified.
She mentioned that if she were interested in money, she would have aligned herself with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), since they are currently in control of the state’s resources.
“If I am greedy and want to enjoy politics money, I would rather opt for NPP because they are the ones handling the state’s money currently. But because I’m not greedy, I will not campaign for NPP like some of my colleagues” she explained.
Awuni went on to outline the reasons for her support of the NDC and its presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama.
She highlighted Mahama’s promises, including restarting abandoned projects, reopening banks to support traders, improving schools, offering free first-year education to university students, and reviving the Free SHS initiative.
“We want Mahama to prioritize health, education, and employment. Akufo-Addo’s government is a mess,” she said, criticizing the current administration for issues like polluted water and frequent electricity interruptions.
