I’m not alone, more NPP bigwigs are breaking away – Amoako Baah [Listen]

Political Scientist Dr. Richard Amoako Baah has reaffirmed that his resignation from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is still in effect, adding that he is not the only one parting ways with the party.

According to him, several leading members are also breaking away to join his new political movement, which he has named the New Patriotic Front.

“It’s not just me. There are many bigwigs behind this move. Even if someone comes to beg me to stop forming the party, I can’t, because the breakaway is much bigger than just one person,” Dr. Amoako Baah stated in an interview on Adom FMs morning show Dwaso Nsem.

He revealed that so far, 36 leading members of the NPP have pledged their support and are gearing up to officially join the New Patriotic Front.

Dr. Amoako Baah also disclosed that some NPP members living abroad, particularly in the United States, have contacted him to announce their decision to leave the party.

“Even those outside the country have called me and told me they are leaving. I cannot lie — people are tired,” he stressed.

He expressed disappointment over what he describes as the party’s refusal to listen to genuine concerns from its members.

“The truth is, even when you speak, the party won’t listen. A few people are just doing what they like,” he lamented.

The political scientist believes that this internal disconnect and poor leadership contributed to the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general election.

“Even after losing the 2024 election, the same people still want to control the party. That is why I’ve decided to leave — I can’t even freely express my mind anymore,” he added.

Dr. Amoako Baah officially announced his resignation from the NPP, citing deep frustrations over the leadership’s failure to connect with grassroots supporters and its inability to accept internal criticism.
