Gomoa Central Member of Parliament (MP), Naana Eyiah Quansah, has taken a swipe at Independent Candidate Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, over what she has described as his continuous attacks on her personality.
In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, the MP, without mincing words, stated that she is a mature and responsible woman who will not stoop low to reply to insults.
According to her, this is not the first time a political opponent has rained insults on her, but at the end of the polls, she triumphs over her detractors.
“Since I became an MP in 2016, I have never fought anybody and will never fight. I am a mature person; a mother and grandmother. I’m a wife and a responsible, properly trained woman. I will never stoop low to his [A Plus] insults,” she stated.
The MP, who also serves as the Deputy Interior Minister, declared that she is focused on her campaign and her quest to retain the seat for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on December 7.
Naana Eyiah’s comment follows an altercation during a festival launch in Gomoa Lome on Tuesday, where A Plus allegedly pulled a pistol.
A scuffle and heated exchange led to the injury of two people, who were rushed to the Agona Swedru Government Hospital.
A Plus, reacting to the incident, accused the MP’s supporters of instigating the attack due to the rousing welcome and overwhelming support he has in the constituency.
He stated that his supporters couldn’t remain unconcerned and retaliated, an act the MP has condemned and disassociated herself from.
