Emerging dancehall act, Derrick Obuobi Junior popularly known as J Deborie has disclosed how Nigerian act, Mr Eazi aided him in his music career.
Having courted the attention of great dancehall musicians like Popcaan, Kranium, Konshens, Sarkodie and Shatta Wale among others, J Derobie can be said to be the new sensational act after putting out his “Poverty” song.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM on Wednesday, J Deborie said one of his friends uploaded the then unfinished song on social media and the feedback made him go to the studio to finally record it.

He, however, added that Mr Eazi’s chose him to be part of his #empawa100 scheme, which is set to discover and empower 100 young artistes for the next three years, after his song blew up, poking number one on iTunes charts for weeks.
“Most of the times I am not that lucky. I tell girls I like them but it doesn’t work. I go for job interview and I am not called but for Mr Eazi’s empawa100 thing I applied for, it picked, and I am so happy.

“I’ve always wanted to be a musician since I was a kid. I look up to Mr Eazi and I am coming out with more songs. Ghanaians should watch out,” he told Andy.
J Deborie’s “Poverty” music video which was powered by Mr Eazi’s #empawa initiative has so far garnered over 248k views on YouTube.
