According to Mr Mahama, his switch from active politics after the NDC lost the 2016 election, gave him a lot of time to reflect over his personal life.

“My reflection reminded me of self-appraisal and helped me discover the first principle of my life and my Christian faith. I believe I am now ready to carry the party and the great tradition on which it stands into victory,” he noted.

He, however, stated that he felt blessed to play a part in Ghana’s story.

“Returning to civil life was enticing as spending time with family and spending time away from the often vicious enterprise of our unforgiving politics was very attractive,”

He added that, his decision to come back into active politics was not a sole decision but based on deliberations with key people in his life.
