I’m a peaceful man, any election violence won’t come from me – Mahama

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has reaffirmed his steadfast commitment to peace as the country approaches the 2024 general elections.

Speaking at the 31st Biennial General Council meeting of the Assemblies of God Church, held at the CK Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS) in Navrongo, Upper East Region, Mahama assured Ghanaians that he is devoted to ensuring a peaceful electoral process.

“As we approach another election, there is often a general sense of apprehension that something might go wrong. As a member of your church, I can assure you and pledge that I am a person of peace, and if there is any violence, it won’t come from me. I will do everything to ensure that Ghana remains peaceful,” he vowed.

Mr Mahama underscored the critical need for peace during elections, emphasizing that political power should never be gained at the expense of the lives or well-being of Ghanaians.

“If you resort to violence, it is the same people you are coming to govern. And so, I don’t think that even a single drop of any Ghanaian blood is worth political power or coming into office,” he declared.
