I’ll trust Mahama to fight corruption than Akufo-Addo – Franklin Cudjoe

-

President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe believes the flagbearer of National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama is commitment to fighting corruption.

In his view, unlike President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, he is certain Mr. Mahama will do better in corruption fight should he win the December general elections.

“I should be cautious, but I think I will trust John Dramani Mahama a bit more than [President] Akufo-Addo because unfortunately, [President] Akufo-Addo has proven not to be trustworthy on these things” Mr. Cudjoe said in an interview on Citi News.

His comment follows John Mahama pledge to hold public officeholders accountable if elected president, as part of his broader anti-corruption strategy during a town hall conversation at the Bukom Boxing Arena on Monday, August 12.

Many are skeptical about the pledge given the corruption allegations leveled against him during his tenure in office.

But Franklin Cudjoe said he trusts Mahama to fulfill this promise.

He also contrasted Mahama’s stance on corruption with the record of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

“I can understand the caution, but [President] Akufo-Addo is not John Mahama. At least we tested both. As I understand, [President] Akufo-Addo has walked back on some of his words many, many times. No haircut, he gave us a dubious haircut.

“Galamsey, he said he would put his presidency on the line and nothing has happened because the rivers are worse off now than ever before” he added.
