Member of Parliament (MP) for Sekondi, Blay Nyameke, has announced plans to relocate former President Akufo-Addo’s statue from the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in the Western Region to Kyebi.
However, Mr. Nyameke has stated that he will first seek permission from President John Mahama.
According to him, Akufo-Addo has no legacy in the region to merit a monument.
He stated that the town’s development should have been the former president’s priority, rather than selfishly glorifying himself with a statue.
“What did Nana Addo do for us in the Western Region to deserve a statue there? The statue, our communicators will relocate to his hometown.
“We will get permission from our President (Mahama) to relocate the statue to Kyebi and mount Kwame Nkrumah’s statue there,” he said in an interview with Oyerepa TV.
