Founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has described President Akufo-Addo’s government as the most corrupt regime in Ghana’s history.
Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe has said he will have problems with Akufo-Addo’s successor if he fails to investigate and prosecute corruption cases.
He was speaking at the Crusaders Against Corruption event held at the GNAT Hall, Accra.
“Now I have personally said, and I will repeat it here. Any person who takes over from this present government, if the leader refuses to see to the investigation and prosecution of this present government, I will fight a single fight against that person.
“Because the country in which we are now is a country where the leadership is made up of thieves. If you are not in that state, why should we be so broke by now? Why? When people who have just got to go through dialysis are not able to get the services of the hospital simply because the money is not there when individuals have stolen millions of dollars,” he bemoaned.
Recounting the dismissal of former Finance Minister Komla Agbeli Gbedemah, Minister of Commerce; Kojo Botsio, and Minister of Communication; Krobo Edusei, he said they were the best lieutenants Nkrumah had when he started.
However, because Nkrumah was such a strong person, he dismissed them when they went wrong.
Such a character to him is the kind of leadership Ghana needs to set it on the right path.
“If a leader knows that his subordinates are doing the wrong thing and he is strong, he will definitely deal with them unless he is also a robber. If we get the type of equipment Who be strong, ethically powerful and know exactly what the feeling of the people are, I think we shall get somewhere,” he stated.
