I’ll improve working conditions of public workers – Rashid Pelpuo

The Minister-designate for Labour, Jobs, and Employment, Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo, has pledged to improve the working conditions of public sector employees if approved.

During his vetting on Thursday, Dr. Pelpuo acknowledged that Ghanaian workers were dedicated and committed to their services.

“I’m sure you are talking about fair payment for work done, and the need to reconcile the fact that you’re producing but may not be producing hard enough to earn what you deserve. How do we reconcile this?” he said.

The Wa Central MP, therefore, advocated that fair and equitable wages were important, adding that policy measures must be put in place to ensure workers receive competitive salaries.

“I think it’s a major area, and I will be tackling it. I’m happy to do it if you approve my nomination because it’s a big issue for all Ghanaians.

“I know that the Ghanaian worker is very conscientious, very committed, and very hardworking. But we need a kind of policy direction to help them produce more so that we can pay, and know that we’re paying something worthwhile. We will be committing ourselves to working on it,” he added.
