The Minister-designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, has committed to working closely with former ministers of the ministry to craft effective policies that will boost local economies across Ghana’s districts.
Speaking during his appearance before the Parliamentary Appointments Committee on Tuesday, January 21, the Member of Parliament for Banda emphasized the importance of harnessing the expertise and institutional knowledge of past leaders, regardless of their political affiliations, to achieve the ministry’s objectives.
“If given the nod, I will collaborate with former ministers of local governance, regardless of their political party, to formulate strategies and policies that align with President Mahama’s vision of equitable development,” Mr. Ibrahim said.
He explained that every district has unique natural advantages, which will be leveraged to drive economic growth.
By focusing on these areas, Mr. Ibrahim aims to enhance local economies and foster a more inclusive approach to development.
The minister-designate also stressed the significance of empowering Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to effectively implement these policies at the local level.
He highlighted that such targeted initiatives are crucial to ensuring that every district benefits from the government’s development agenda.
