Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno has urged the youth of Bawku to embrace peace, assuring them of priority in police recruitment as part of efforts to restore calm in the conflict-prone area.
During a visit to Bawku on Friday, April 11, the IGP acknowledged the resilience of the community and announced that a dedicated recruitment team would soon be deployed to the region to offer employment opportunities to local youth.
“When it comes to recruitment, we will give the youth of Bawku priority. A special team will be sent here to carry out the process,” he said.
IGP Yohuno also encouraged open communication between the police and the community, urging residents to speak up about any concerns or errors by officers.
“We are pleading with you—if we go wrong somewhere, let us know so we can correct it. If we’ve made any mistakes, forgive us. We assure you such issues won’t happen again,” he added.
His visit forms part of ongoing efforts by the Ghana Police Service to engage local communities and foster trust in areas affected by conflict.
