Businessman Ibrahim Mahama has been ordered by the Economic and Organised Crime (EOCO) to deposit his passport with the state investigative body tomorrow, Wednesday April 19.
This was revealed by Ningo Prampram MP Sam George Nartey in an interview with Class FM on Wednesday April 18.
EOCO invited the Chief Executive Officer of Engineers and Planners, who is also brother of former President John Mahama, and interrogated him for several hours.
Mr Mahama received the invitation on Thursday April 13 and reported Tuesday morning but was still being interrogated late Tuesday afternoon.
According to sources, Mr Mahama was invited to answer questions over some dud cheques he issued to the customs division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) at the Tema Port to clear some heavy duty equipment he had imported.
Sam George, who was at the premises of EOCO, said: “He was invited over some cheques that were issued to GRA. He has a standing arrangement with the GRA over some cheques he issued to them… He has explained with his lawyers to EOCO and the issues have been understood fully and so arrangement have been made. He is supposed to present his passport tomorrow and then on Thursday he has a meeting with the EOCO boss.
