A flagbearer aspirant of the National Democratic Congress Party (NDC), Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, is promising to turn the party into an election-winning machine.
Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah said he will turn the “lame horse into a racehorse,” ahead of the 2020 general elections.
Dr Spio-Garbrah’s comment is in an apparent reference to former President Dramani Mahama’s figurative description of the NDC as ‘a lame horse’.

Dr Spio-Garbrah is recommending a careful re-organization and assessment of the NDC following the party’s defeat in the 2016 election.
“…for [the] people talking about leadership and the presidency, it’s absolutely premature. If you ride a lame horse into a race and you lose the race, your priority must be to cure the lameness of the horse”.
Dr Spio-Garbrah who was speaking in an interview with Adomonline.com said he has what it takes to turn the lame horse [NDC] into a racehorse.

In his view, the party whose credibility has been battered by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) needs serious rebranding to win the hearts of Ghanaians.
As a branding expert, the former Minister for Trade said he is the best candidate to lead the NDC in the 2020 elections.
He stated that a new wind of change has started from the bottom and would continue through the rank and file of the party.
