Former vice president of the Ghana Football Association, Mr. George Afriyie, has hinted he is the last person to betray President Kwesi Nyantakyi.
Mr. Afriyie was, last week, relieved of his position as FA Vice President for reasons that are unclear to the public.
But, he says that will not stop him from contesting the Football Association presidency in 2019.
Speaking on Asempa FM, George Afriyie recounted his long lasting relationship with Mr. Nyantakyi and explained he will be the last person to betray him or let him down.
“I have remained loyal to Mr. Nyantakyi and I have supported him since 2005 so why will I betray him now? Where were all those claiming to love him now when I was defending him and recruiting people to speak for the Football Association”, Mr. Afriyie said on Asempa FM.
“No one loves Nyantakyi and is loyal to him than myself. He has thrown away a pillar that has stood by his side all this years and listening to boot lickers”, he added.
The former Ghana U20 Management Committee Chairman further revealed that his intention to contest for the Presidency can never be likened to an act of betrayal after President Nyantakyi has, on several occasions, announced he will not contest.
“If Nyantakyi decides to contest after declaring he will not, I will be disappointed in him and will show he has no integrity”, he added.
George Afriyie declared his intention to contest the Football Association presidency at his 50th birthday party and insists he will contest whether Nyantakyi changes his mind or not.
