I will be a servant leader – Nkwanta South MCE pledges

-

In his commitment to fostering collaboration and empowerment, the newly confirmed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Joseph Antwi Awal, has pledged to adopt a servant-leader approach in serving the people of Nkwanta South Municipality in the Oti Region.

His confirmation was decisive, with all 43 assembly members unanimously voting in his favor, resulting in remarkable 100% support for his leadership.

In his acceptance speech, Joseph Awal acknowledged that sustainable progress cannot thrive amid conflict, misunderstanding, and discord.

He emphasized that peace is not merely the absence of war but the presence of justice, equality, and opportunity for all.

According to him, his leadership philosophy will prioritize the needs of the community, ensuring that their aspirations and challenges are at the forefront of their collective efforts. By actively listening and engaging in open dialogue, he aims to foster a supportive atmosphere where voices are not only heard but valued.

He urged the conflicting factions to work towards creating an environment where dialogue prevails over division, unity over tribal and ethnic strife, and collaboration over contention.

This approach will help cultivate a culture of understanding, allowing every individual to contribute initiatives that promote unity and cooperation, ultimately building a foundation for resilient development that ensures no one is left behind in the pursuit of peaceful coexistence and shared prosperity.

Joseph Antwi assured that, as chairman of the Municipal Security Committee (MUSEC), he would extend his full support to security agencies without bias, fear, or favor to restore the peace that everyone deserves.

He encouraged all parties involved in the conflict to seek constructive means to address their differences rather than resorting to violence, reminding the community of the devastating effects of the conflict, which has already disrupted families and led to the decline of businesses.

Regarding youth in agriculture and agro-business, the MCE outlined plans to empower young entrepreneurs with the skills and resources necessary to innovate in the agricultural sector. This initiative will not only cultivate sustainable economic growth and job creation but also establish a foundation for food security and self-sufficiency in the area.

Additionally, he pledged to prioritize critical investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure, trade, and transportation, emphasizing that good roads connecting farmers to markets are essential for economic vitality.

Assembly member for Nkwanta Nsana-Zongo electoral area, Richard Kwame Nayo, also emphasized the need for collaboration to ensure lasting peace in Nkwanta South Municipality.

He pledged that the assembly members will support the new MCE to enable him to execute his developmental agenda and promote socio-economic development.
