The former wife of Ghanaian footballer Majeed Waris, Habiba Sinare, has revealed the heartbreaking reason behind their marriage’s breakdown.
In an interview with Mz Gee, she shared that Waris consistently prioritized his family over their relationship, causing her immense emotional pain.
The final straw came when she confronted him about his choices.
“He told me he wouldn’t choose me over his family,” Habiba revealed, “That sentence still echoes in my life. When he said that, I thought, ‘Wow, I wasn’t family after all.'”
The statement deeply wounded Habiba, ultimately leading to the couple’s separation in 2018 after only sixteen months of marriage. Despite having a child together, Habiba felt the relationship had irrevocably broken down.
“I told him, ‘I’m done. There’s nothing left. I don’t feel anything for you any more,'” she said, highlighting the emotional toll Waris’ words had taken.
Meanwhile, the divorce was marred by further controversy, with reports suggesting that Habiba hid herself from Waris for a period and that he was denied access to their son.
Habiba Sinare is the daughter of Alhaji Sinare, a former Member of Parliament and Ghana’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, and the niece of renowned actress Kalsoum Sinare.
