Kumasi-based musician, Kweku Darlington has opened up about his year-long battle with a severe and mysterious illness.

In an interview on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning show, Kweku Darlington shared that the ailment was so debilitating that it confined him to his home, explaining his recent musical silence.

Initially dismissing the symptoms, he soon realized the severity of his condition, which he came to believe was a spiritual attack which required immediate attention.

“It was so severe that it even affected my skin. I couldn’t go outside, and I still have some marks as a reminder. It felt like I was trapped with only my head exposed. The aim seemed to be to keep me indoors because I’m more impactful when I’m out. In short, I was essentially buried with only my head visible,” he told host Roselyn Felli.

Kweku Darlington linked the onset of his illness to a fallout with friends who had turned into enemies. Though he had moved to Accra, he returned to Kumasi to seek proper healing.

Despite visits to various medical and herbal practitioners, no one could diagnose his condition. Eventually, he turned to prayer, which exposed the true cause of his illness.

“It wasn’t a medical issue but rather a spiritual one. It started with my eye, and despite numerous tests, the clinics couldn’t find anything wrong. They gave me medications, injections, and spectacles, but nothing worked. It was only after seeking help from a spiritual group I used to be a part of at Atwea Mountains that we identified the problem. Once we addressed the spiritual issues, I was able to start taking the appropriate medications,” he explained.

When asked if he might have angered someone to warrant such an ordeal, Kweku Darlington said a minor disagreement with a friend, which he believes was not significant enough to have caused such extreme consequences.

He is now in the process of recovery, with some remnants of the rash still visible on his body.

Meanwhile, he has released a new song, “Grateful to Your Ex,” aimed at encouraging people to appreciate past relationships despite breakups.
