Kwame Opoku, Asante Kotoko’s striker, has revealed that he turned down a more lucrative offer from Medeama SC in favor of returning to his former club.
Opoku made his return to the Ghana Premier League during the first half of the 2024/25 season after stints in Algeria and Morocco.
In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Opoku shared that Medeama’s president, Moses Armah, offered him a contract three times more lucrative than the one from Asante Kotoko.
However, Opoku chose to decline the offer from Medeama, citing his strong desire to rejoin Kotoko.
“Medeama SC president Moses Armah offered me a deal three times better than what Asante Kotoko offered me, but I declined and decided to join Kotoko,” Opoku said.
“Kotoko is the club I’ve always wanted to play for, so I decided to make my return,” he added.
Since rejoining Asante Kotoko on a two-and-a-half-year contract, Opoku has had an impressive start, scoring five goals in just four games for the club.
