Captain of the Black Stars, Andre Ayew has taken responsibility for their shambolic performance in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.
“As a Ghanaian and as a leader no player is to be held responsible for this; I take the responsibility and we are going to work hard and come back stronger,” he told newsmen after the game.

Sports pundits and some Ghanaian football fans have expressed their dissatisfaction after the senior national team crushed out of the ongoing AFCON.
They lost to the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in a 4-5 penalty shoot-out which saw Caleb Ekuban’s penalty saved.
Their performance has broken many hearts who believed the 2019 edition of AFCON was a ‘cool chop’ for Ghana. They are calling for the head of the coach, Kwesi Appiah for failing to be tactical on the field of play.

But skipper of the side, Dede Ayew said they just had a bad tournament.
“If we have been kicked out at this stage it means we had a bad tournament and since we couldn’t achieve the mission we came here for, I will say we failed,” he stated.
Dede Ayew is confident with more training, the Black Stars will make Ghana proud again.

“I am very sad and disappointed that we could not get to the next stage, but we need to take heart and be stronger. The entire team gave everything but it did not go our way,” he said.
