The skipper of Ghana’s Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan, has disclosed in an interview on Adom TV that he is Ghana’s best penalty taker despite squandering the most most important penalty in Ghana’s football history.
The outspoken former BBC African Player believes he is the most confident and the best at taking spot kicks for both club and country.
“I am the best at taking spot kicks for both club and country. I admit to having missed quite a number, especially at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa but that is one of the unfortunate times,” he explained.
The goal-getter who is Ghana’s top scorer with 51 goals was upbeat about the fact his colleagues at club side and at the national team still rely on him to convert penalty kicks which they think to be his speciality.
“My colleagues still look up to me to convert penalty kicks and most at times I deliver so that unfortunate incident in 2010 did not prevent me from taking spot kicks”, he added.
Asamoah Gyan was an unused substitute in Ghana’s Africa Cup qualifier against Ethiopia when Ghana won 2-0.
