Highlife musician Kontihene says he has regretted putting his music career on hold to promote his colleague Kwabena Kwabena.
Kwabena Kwabena became a household name after featuring on Kontihene’s 2004 hit song, ‘Esi’.
Kontihene was marked to be influential in transforming Kwabena Kwabena from a backup artiste to a successful mainstream artiste.

The two musicians were perceived by the public to be ‘more than friends’ since they collaborated on a number of songs that received massive attention and airplay.
But speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM on Monday, the “Aketesia” hitmaker, born George Kwabena Adu, said he reaped no profit after laying strong hands on an album he composed for Kwabena Kwabena when he was just an up-and-coming artiste.
“I regret putting my career on hold and working on Kwabena Kwabena. It is a regrettable stage…,” Kontihene told Andy Dosty.
He also explained that although he is not bitter or disappointed he “could’ve used the energy to do other things.”
Asked if he has a cordial relationship with Kwabena Kwabena even with his subtle altercations with him, Kontihene said, “we are just cool.”
“I promoted him [Kwabena Kwabena] because I wanted to create an empire to sprout talents but it turned out the opposite way. What makes it disappointing is putting my career on hold. I didn’t make money on the album I did for him. I could have used the energy to do something else. When someone asks about him [Kwabena Kwabena], I just say cool. I don’t say anything more than that…”
This isn’t the first time Kontihene has called out Kwabena Kwabena; he was captured in an interview on Hitz FM in 2017 saying “Aso” hitmaker has never been his friend.

Kontihene said he had slowed down on how he puts others before him in the music industry.
“The scripture says love your neighbour as yourself,” he said.
Kontihene is currently promoting his new song dubbed, “Tricks”.
