Former Ghana’s Most Beautiful pageant Sally Akua Amoakowaa, popularly known as Akua GMB has expressed her regret about getting married at a young age.
In a recent interview, Akua GMB said that if she could go back in time, she wouldn’t have married at 22.
The former beauty queen expressed that she believes she married too young, without fully experiencing life or taking the time to understand herself first.
“If I had had the opportunity to change something in my life ten years ago, I think it would have been me not getting married. I sometimes feel I got married too early. I got married at the age of 22.
“Then, I hadn’t discovered who I was. I hadn’t explored the world, and I didn’t know me. So, that decision, I think, wasn’t a good one for me”, she said.
The CEO of Jewel Fashion also added that she doesn’t discourage young women from marrying early, but they should first make sure they understand themselves and what marriage means.
“If the person thinks she knows who she is, she understands what she is getting herself into, she is ready for the task ahead, of course, why not? You can go ahead and get married”, she said.
Akua GMB became Dr. Kweku Oteng’s fourth wife soon after winning the 2011 Ghana’s Most Beautiful pageant. They were married for almost eight years before divorcing in 2019 and have three children together.
