The Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has disclosed that he ordered the arrest of Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Ekumfi, former Board Chairman of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), over questionable financial transactions.
According to Dr. Ayine, Prof. Ameyaw-Ekumfi was interrogated regarding payments made during his tenure, particularly a sum of two million dollars that was disbursed for certain works that were never carried out.
“We are still investigating the circumstances of the payment and those who were involved,” the Attorney-General stated in an interview with GhanaWeb TV.
The former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman hopeful was arrested by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) on the morning of Sunday, March 2, 2025, in connection with an ongoing probe into financial transactions during his time as Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF).
However, he was released later in the evening.
