The incumbent Member of Parliament for Agona West, Cynthia Morrison, has acknowledged that she anticipates being expelled from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and has mentally prepared herself for it.
She expressed that, although it pains her, she is ready to leave the party, despite her contributions and the recognition she has received within the NPP.
“I know they will expel me from the NPP, so I have psyched myself up for it, I am pained, but I have to go. I am ready to leave, and although they have promoted me and I have done a lot for the party, I won’t allow them to disgrace me” she said in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Wednesday.
Madam Morrison said she is aware her actions might lead to her removal from the party, and she has already accepted this possibility.
She added, “I love the NPP, but I know we are not fighting against flesh and blood. I am aware that I will be sacked, and I am already prepared for that.”
The former Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection also mentioned that she cannot use party paraphernalia because party members might try to prevent her from doing so.
“I will go and find people to give party paraphernalia to them freely. I have my elephant symbol on my table though” she disclosed.
Cynthia Morrison has officially announced her intention to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming 2024 parliamentary elections.
During a recent interaction with her constituents, she emphasized her commitment to the development of Agona West and has filed her nomination forms to contest in the elections.
