Gomoa Central Member of Parliament (MP)-elect, Kwame Asare Obeng popularly known as Kwame A Plus has said his victory did not come as a surprise.

A Plus has said he knew he would be elected as MP in the 2024 election way back in 2020.

He disclosed this in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme on Wednesday.

According to him, as a son of the land, he did not think any of his contenders aside from him would win.

“I was born in Gomoa Asebu and that is like my town. My father built the first private school in the town. I know most of the people by name and parents. We are a big family and I was wondering why anybody would win the election,” he stated.

Kwame A Plus secured an overwhelming victory with 14,277 votes out of 36,026 total valid votes cast.

Ahead of the election, he targeted 45% votes and defeated the incumbent MP and NPP candidate, Naana Eyiah Quansah.

Madam Quansah who doubles as Deputy Interior Minister polled 11,637 votes while the NDC’s Yawson Mohammed came third with 10,112 votes.

Naana Eyiah, has served two terms in Parliament after winning the seat in 2016 and 2020 with commanding margins.

She was confident about retaining the seat.

However, A Plus has said the other contenders are not known by the constituents hence his victory.
