The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Mireku Duker has disputed claims by some workers of mining firm, Goldfields Ghana Limited that he has an interest in the company.
A protest by the workers of Goldfields Tarkwa mines in the Western Region turned bloody after they clashed with a team of military personnel there.
At least seven workers are in the custody of the police for participating in the protest without an approval from the appropriate authorities.

The workers who are protesting a retrenchment policy by the company had claimed that the MP seems not to be concerned about their plight.
Some of the workers had claimed that the MP was in bed with Goldfields Ghana Limited.
Reacting to these claims on Adom FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem’ on Tuesday, Mireku Duker said he has no interest in Goldfields and hence urged the workers to be rest assured that he would be fighting for their interest.
“I have never done any form of business with Goldfields, I have not even sold a pencil to them, not even a pencil…,” he said.
