I didn’t pull a gun at DRIP commissioning – Gomoa West MP

-

Gomoa West Member of Parliament(MP) Richard Gyan-Mensah, has debunked claims of pulling a gun at the commissioning of DRIP equipment on Monday.

According to him, the allegation is a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation.

The District Chief Executive and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bismark Nkum has accused the MP of pulling a gun and leading National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters to cause mayhem at the event.

Mr Nkum alleged that Mr Gyan-Mensah and the NDC supporters invaded the ceremony, wielding sticks and cutlasses, triggering a violent scene which left one person injured.

However, the MP in an interview with Adom News’ Kofi Adjei dismissed the allegations, stating he is a peace-loving person and would never resort to violence.

“They just want to provoke my side. Everyone knows I am a peaceful person but it does not imply that I will sit and watch someone harm me,” he said.

To prove his innocence, Mr. Gyan-Mensah has asked the media to produce videos of the confrontations as they were present during the ceremony.

He noted that, he would have been arrested if the allegations were true given that the Police Commander was at the event.

Mr Gyan-Mensah explained that, he did not go to the venue with any pistol as alleged.
