Chief Executive Officer of Data Bank, Mr. Kojo Addai Mensah has expressed his outmost disappointment at the world Football governing body, FIFA for threatening to ban Ghana if government does not withdraw liquidation process of the Ghana Football Association.
The government of Ghana moved for a court injunction to start a liquidation of the embattled Ghana Football Association after investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas through an investigative piece revealed the rot in the game.
FIFA in a statement released yesterday is giving the government of Ghana an ultimatum to withdraw by August 27 else face a ban but football enthusiast Addai-Mensah believes is misplaced for FIFA to give a sovereign nation like Ghana such a stern warning even though he is for reforms in Ghana Football.
“I am very disappointed in FIFA’s letter to Ghana and the secretary of the body for signing. It looks like calling upon a friend to help in times of need and FIFA is not helping us. Though I appreciate reforms in Ghana Football, this is unacceptable. We have laws in this country”, he said.
The banking expert wished FIFA rather sat with the government of the country and the Liaison team to find an amicable solution to the dying state of Football and empower the Liaison tem more then send such a letter. He is also of the view that, Football people need to be heard but the ultimatum is wrong.
