President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, says he feels more humbled than ever following his appointment as the 2nd Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The announcement was made by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe during a press conference held in Accra.
“I asked myself what the 54 Member Associations saw in me to give me this opportunity. That makes me even more humbled than before,” Mr. Okraku told Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show.
He expressed surprise at the appointment but pledged his full commitment: “I’m surprised [to be appointed 2nd Vice President of CAF], but this is an opportunity I’ve embraced with both hands—an opportunity I will not let go. I will do my utmost in our desire to make football truly African and truly global.”
Okraku succeeds Ahmed Yahya as 2nd Vice President and joins Morocco’s Faouzi Lekjaa, who has been appointed 1st Vice President, replacing Augustine Senghor of Senegal.
In light of his new responsibilities, Okraku has stepped down as President of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B.
