The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, George Mireku Duker, has said he is ready to debate anyone on the management and progress of Ghana’s mining sector.
“I am ready to debate anyone on the mining sector. We are not talking enough about the good things we[NPP government] have done in the mining sector, which is why I have taken it upon myself to tell Ghanaians what the government has accomplished,” he asserted.
In an exclusive interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem on Tuesday, Mr Duker stated that, miners are satisfied with the government’s handling of the sector.
“If you engage the miners, they will tell you, that most of them are happy. Most of them think that when given the opportunity, the NPP government will ensure they are satisfied in the mining sector,” he stated.
“They believe we have the ideas and the practical measures to help the mining industry grow,” he added.
The deputy Lands Minister also pointed out the unparalleled efforts of the current administration, noting that no previous government has taken as much care of the mining industry as the current one.
He revealed that government is working towards setting up manganese refinery in the country.
“This is the only time you will see that lithium, bauxite, and manganese are getting the attention they deserve. We will even set up a manganese refinery in Ghana,” he announced.
