The Chief Executive Officer of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah has clarified that he is not yet 60-years-old.
He made this known in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, following concerns about his retirement.
“I am not yet 60 years,” he stated, pointing out that doctors in government facilities typically retire at that age.
Regarding the possibility of extending his tenure, Dr. Ampomah explained that the decision lies with the hospital’s board and the government.
“If my work is satisfactory to the board and the government, then my tenure will be extended,” he said.
He stressed his commitment to continue serving if asked.
“When they ask me to extend my work, I will do it” the Korle Bu added.
Reflecting on his dedication, Dr. Ampomah cited his promise to President Akufo-Addo when he first took the role.
“From day one, I promised the President, Akufo-Addo, that I would serve and do my best, which I have done and am still doing,” he affirmed.
He reiterated that if his tenure is extended, he would continue to serve with the same dedication.
“So, when my tenure is extended, I will do it,” he added.
