Youth and Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, has dismissed claims that he is the worst minister in his position.
These remarks were made after Ussif appeared before the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports, Culture, and Tourism on Tuesday.
He was called to respond to questions regarding the Black Stars’ performance in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.
Following the ban placed on the Baba Yara Stadium by CAF due to its poor playing surface, there have been growing calls for Ussif’s dismissal.
However, when asked directly if he considers himself the worst Sports Minister, Ussif firmly disagreed.
He stated, “What I intend to disagree with you, is your statement that I am the worst as a Minister, I’m the worst as a performer in terms of numbers.
“I don’t know which numbers you are talking about so you should be able to tell me what numbers, the data you are using to determine (that) during my time it is the worst,” he added.
During Ussif’s tenure, the Black Stars have failed to advance beyond the group stages in the last two AFCON tournaments held in Cameroon and Ivory Coast.
