I am hoping to win trophy with Black Stars – Jordan Ayew

-

Black Stars captain, Jordan Ayew, has reaffirmed his determination to clinch a trophy with the senior national team.

Despite the last major title coming in 1982, the Black Stars have struggled to capture a significant trophy over the years, even reaching the finals of the AFCON in 1992, 2010, and 2015 but falling short.

Following back-to-back group-stage exits at the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon and 2023 in Ivory Coast, the Black Stars failed to qualify for the upcoming 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

However, Ayew has continued to lead the team with resilience, guiding them to consecutive victories over Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers during Matchdays 5 and 6.

In an interview, the Leicester City forward expressed his commitment to the team’s cause and shared his belief that patience and hard work would eventually bring the long-awaited silverware.

“I’ve been waiting for a national team trophy for many years. I have to keep on working and pushing, and if it comes, it comes,” Ayew said.

The victories in the March international break have lifted the Black Stars to the top of Group I with 15 points, offering hope for the future.
