Wife of Ghanaian midfielder, Sulley Muntari has made claims that his husband has been benched for standing against racism.
Muntari last month walked off the pitch after he was cautioned by the referee for protesting about racial abuse meted out to him by a section of the Cagliari fans and was subsequently banned for a game by the Disciplinary Committee of the Italian FA.
However, Muntari got the backing of several well-meaning individuals and a group of individuals, both sports and outside the sports fraternity including the United Nations Organization, Professional Footballers Association, FIFA, etc and compelled the Italian FA to backtrack its earlier decision to ban the Ghanaian midfielder.
Muntari has since not been fielded by the Italian side and his wife Menaye Donkor took to her Instagram Page to ask the reason behind Pescara’s decision to sideline her husband since the racism incident.
Sulley Muntari signed just a six-months deal with Pescara, but he had even declared he wasn’t going to renew his contract before the racial abuse.
Pescara finished bottom of the Serie A table, hence have been relegated to the second tier of Italian football.
