Renowned music producer and artiste manager, Kwesi Ernest has revealed the intense struggles he faced after recording and releasing his first gospel song, a journey that led him into depression.

Speaking candidly about his experiences in an interview with Adom TV’s Maame Boatemaa, Ernest detailed the challenges he encountered while trying to break into the gospel music scene during the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Kwesi Ernest, who is now a well-known figure in the Ghanaian music industry, recounted how his dream of producing a successful gospel album quickly turned into a nightmare.

“The issue of doing gospel music during that period was incredibly tough. I released a gospel album, but the struggle to produce it was a journey between heaven and hell for me” he said.

The financial strain of producing the album took a toll on Ernest, who revealed that he had taken out loans and invested heavily, hoping for a successful launch. However, the reality was far from what he had expected.

Despite the support from some church members, the album did not generate the returns he had anticipated.

“I thought I was going to make money, but after the album launch, I was left with nothing,” he lamented.

“My mother helped me during this difficult time. I was so depressed that I couldn’t go out,” Ernest shared, highlighting the depth of his struggle.
