Supporters of Malik Basintale, former National Deputy Communications Officer of the NDC, gathered in jubilation as he officially assumed office as the Acting CEO of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).
The celebration was marked by motorcyclists hoisting congratulatory banners amid cheers, applause, and ‘jama’ songs filling the air.
Party loyalists and staff warmly welcomed Basintale, celebrating the start of a new chapter in his public service journey. The outgoing CEO, Kofi Baah Agyepong, formally introduced Basintale to the staff.
In his inaugural address, Basintale expressed his strong commitment to addressing youth unemployment, describing it as critical to the nation’s progress.
“My mandate is to deliver jobs to the unemployed youth. It is very dear to my heart. If they remain unemployed, we, the employed ones, are all at risk,” he said.
He also emphasized the importance of integrity and focus in achieving the agency’s goals.
“If your intention is to make money and look for money, then today, pack everything and go home. We are here to work and make the government and Ghana proud,” Basintale stated firmly.
Basintale’s appointment by President John Dramani Mahama has been met with optimism as he takes on the challenge of steering YEA toward fulfilling its mandate of empowering the nation’s youth.
