The wife of the Ghanaian veteran actor Asonaba Kweku Darko, popularly known as Super OD, couldn’t hold back her tears as she recalls memories of her beloved ‘concert’ husband.
The actor, who went out of the public’s eye for some time due to illness, passed on to glory on February 13 at the Swedru Government Hospital in the Central Region at the age of 84.
In an interview with Adom TV, Mary Nyarko described Super OD as an outstanding actor and husband who loved everyone equally and aided those who needed his help.
Madam Nyarko continued that, “he was never a bad man; he had 13 kids and made sure they were happy. He was open-minded and loved everyone with his whole heart…’ She told Adom TV.
Asked if she could tell the public some of her funniest moments with her late husband, the widow broke into tears saying “if I try recalling the memories it will hurt me so let’s cut the discussion short”.
The one-week celebration of Super OD is currently ongoing at Agona-Abodom in the Central Region. Family members of the late actor will sit-in-state to receive friends, families and sympathizers accordingly.
Super OD, started acting in the 1970s and gained national prominence in the 1990s for roles in popular series, Akan Drama on Ghana Television.
He was part of the Oppong Drama Group which later became known as Osofo Dadzie Group.
