A member of the communications team of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, says members of the NDC are not perturbed by the nomination of former Attorney General, Martin Amidu as Special Prosecutor.
Mr. Amidu, a member of the NDC and a former Attorney General was nominated as Special Prosecutor on Thursday January 11, 2018.
He is expected to be vetted and approved by Parliament.

But commenting on his appointment on Adom TV’s Morning Show “Badwam” on Monday, Mr. Gyamfi said not even the appointment of Satan as the Special Prosecutor will stop his outfit from speaking about the ills in the current government.
He said the party is not scared of a possible witch-hunt by Mr. Amidu who has been an avid critic of the NDC for some time now.

“They can make Satan the Special Prosecutor we care less. He will still work in accordance with the laws of Ghana. If he will go according to laws regardless of who is involved we have no problem at all with him. Claims on social media by some NPP supporters that he is coming to jail NDC members should seize because we are not scared of him. They should stop talking because we are deaf to such comments” he said.

According to Mr Gyamfi, though the NDC has no problem with the Special Prosecutor, he wants persons who may be indicted in corruption cases to be given a fair hearing at the courts with adequate legal representation.

Mr. Amidu, although a member of the NDC, was an avid critic of his party, especially during the 2016 election, where he wrote some disparaging articles against the then government led by John Dramani Mahama because in his view, they were engaged in some corrupt practices.
He also urged Ghanaians to vote the NDC out of power leading to some friction between Mr. Amidu and some members of the party.
