Hot video: Man manufactures pavement blocks with plastic waste

A Ghanaian inventor has found solution to Ghana’s headache on the disposal of plastic waste.
Nelson Boateng who resides in one of Ghana’s most populous areas, Ashiaman, has been able to convert 100 per cent plastic waste into an alternative building material.

According to statistics by the World Economic Forum, by the year 2050, there will be more plastic waste in our oceans than there are fish.
Therefore such innovations that could turn mountains of trash into functional products are crucial to our handling of the problem.

In an exclusive interview on Kofi TV, Nelson Boateng said he has been able to turn the plastics into pavement blocks.

He revealed that, his self-made machine is also to turn plastic waste into a concrete blocks noting that, unlike regular concretes, the blocks do not require glue or any other adhesive.
Also, Mr. Boateng said he has created employment to majority of women in the area who make GH₵50 a day for the supply of plastics.

He indicated that, these sustainable pavement blocks could represent the next wave of sustainable construction.
Nelson Boateng is convinced such eco-friendly pavement blocks would protect Ghana’s roads for over 500 years.
