The Assin Fosu police has arrested a 28-year-old woman suspected to be behind a number of child trafficking cases in the area.
According to the Assin Fosu District police commander, Superintendent Magnus Sam, the suspect, Adjoa Owusua was arrested Thursday evening when she attempted to traffic four women, aged, Judith Boampong 13, Comfort Arthur 15, Mercy Kronkye 15, Hannah Sam 18 years to Accra.

Supt. Magnus Sam said the suspect was transporting the ladies to engage in a business at Accra without the consent of their parents.
“We gathered on Wednesday that a woman at Assin Fosu was attempting to transport some ladies to Accra to engage in a business and so we followed up to her hideout after a tip off and arrested her including the children” he said.

Supt. Magnus Sam said child trafficking has become very rampant in the Central Region, thus advised mothers to be vigilant.

But the suspect, Adjoa Owusua in an interview with Adom News’ Alfred Amoh explained that, she had no malicious intention behind the move but she only wanted to engage them in a lucrative business.
