New Patriotic Party (NPP) Deputy General Secretary, has charged critics in NDC who have descended heavily on the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong over the Bulk Oil Storage and Transport Company (BOST) saga to stop attacking him.
According to Nana Obiri Boahen, statements by Mr Kennedy Agyapong regarding the issue should not be taken for granted since he has evidence to support his claim.
“Those critics who have nothing to do but to criticize Kennedy Agyapong and insult him because he saying the truth should desist from it because Kennedy Agyapong will not make claims without any evidence and so stop attacking him and rather laud him for his boldness.
“We are all in the same party and whatever Kennedy says he says it on behalf of the party” he said on Accra based Neat FM.
Mr. Agyapong’s recent outburst follows the implication of Managing Director of Bulk Oil Storage and Transport Company (BOST), Alfred Obeng in the controversial sale of five million litres of off-spec fuel.
The Minority in Parliament and some civil society groups affiliated to the NPP were calling on the government to sack the BOST MD after selling a million litres of contaminated fuel to Movenpiina, a company said to have been incorporated barely a month after it negotiated the deal with BOST and without NPA license.
The Assin Central MP worried by how party financier, Alfred Obeng was being treated by some NPP members who wanted the BOST job vowed to spill the beans about how the party won the elections.
The Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko, constituted an 8-member investigative committee to look thoroughly into the matter, but barely a week afterward, he announced at a press conference that the committee found no wrongdoing in the deal.
“The investigations so far carried out by the state security agencies and the NPA show that on the basis of previous practice, there was no wrongdoing at BOST on the sale of the 5 million liters of contaminated products.
But Lawyer Obiri Boahen said the erstwhile Mahama government should also be blamed for the current situation.
