Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Akwatia in the Eastern region says being in opposition is “sweet”.
According to Ahmed Mohammed Baba Jamal, being in opposition relieves you of all the stress associated with governance in the country.
The former MP revealed this on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Wednesday.
Baba Jamal lost his seat to the opposition New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidate for the area, Mercy Ama Sey in the 2016 general elections.
Jamal who was also a deputy Minister for Employment & Labour Relations put up a spirited performance with the hope of retaining the seat he won for the (NDC) but his best wasn’t good enough to sail him through.
He polled 15,905 votes while Ama Sey whom he described as hairdresser garnered 21,433 of the total valid votes cast, according to provisional results from the Akwatia constituency.
Many have predicted life will be difficult for the vociferous politician after his party lost to the NPP.
But Baba Jamal on Dwaso Nsem stated that being in opposition is rather a blessing in disguise.
“Being in opposition is very sweet [because] there is less stress, you sleep and wake up anytime you want and people don’t speak any how to you” he stated.
Baba Jamal said they now have ample time to put government on its toes to ensure all the promises it made to Ghanaians are fulfilled.
