Government Spokesperson, Mustapha Hamid, says former President John Mahama is no longer popular in the NDC.
According to him, former President John Mahama recommending “Obinim Sticker” as the solution for the supposed incompetence in the Akufo-Addo-led government means he is struggling hard to be popular in his party.
“Mahama’s incompetent tag is just unnecessary. I think he is making such baseless comments just to be popular in the NDC and that is the only value I saw in his statement but in terms of the national governance, his statement was useless”, he said on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen on Monday.

After losing the 2016 poll, the Former President admitted the negative toll the “incompetent” tag had on his re-election, bid, suggesting that even members of his own party fell for the opposition propaganda that he was incompetent.

According to Mr. Mahama, even though the NPP appears ‘super-incompetent’ in government now, it’s important the umbrella family work hard to win the 2020 elections but not on the weakness of the NPP.
But Mr. Hamid is of the firm conviction that the comment from the former President shows a drowning and desperate man seeking to hold onto a straw to survive in order to be relevant and increase his chances of leading his party in the 2020 presidential contest.

“We don’t believe in Obinim sticker to rule the country because Nana Addo is a visionary man who knows how to govern the country. Mahama only wants to be known just so he gets the nod to lead the party in 2020”, he stated.
