The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has described as ‘senseless and irrational’ comments by Private Legal Practitioner and Member of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Lawyer Abraham Amaliba that Ghana will burn.
The NDC lawyer commenting on the ongoing process which could lead to the impeachment of the Electoral Commissioner (EC), Madam Charlotte Osei, said Ghana will burn if the petitioners succeed in carrying out the process.
“Where are the CDDs? Where are the Occupy Ghana’s? If it were to be the NDC government all these people would be speaking by now. Where is Emile Short? Where is Professor Martey? This country will burn and we will see where all of us will be and so they should continue doing it,” he noted.
The embattled EC Chairperson is expected to answer for six allegations out of the 27 accusations leveled against her by her two deputies Amadu Sulley (in charge of Operations), and Georgina Amankwa (in charge of Corporate Services).
This follows her appearing before the Chief Justice at the Supreme Court on Monday, December 11, after the President forwarded a petition by Forson Ampofo and Godsway Dzado, both drivers at the EC office for her impeachment in relation to alleged corruption and mismanagement.
Reacting to the comments by Lawyer Amaliba on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Thursday, Chairman Wontumi as he is affectionately called expressed disappointment is the comments of the lawyer.
According to him, he least expected a Lawyer of his caliber to make such pronouncement and hence urged him to apologize to the whole nation.
“Amaliba himself needs to be taught common sense because what he said was senseless and irrational and so I think its high time he is forced to think straight because am sure he wasn’t thinking at all when he made those baseless comments” he said.
Chairman Wontumi called on Peace Council and other religious bodies to call him to order arguing that Amaliba must be forced to face the uppermost leadership of his party for his “useless” utterance.
