The Asekyire family of Assin Fosu is demanding for their missing “black stool” from the Assin Fosu Police Commander.
The black stool is what empowers the family to choose who to occupy the position of Krontehene at Wfutuakwa Traditional Council.

A member of the family, Nicholas Afoakwa, told the press at a conference that a member of the family stole the stool in question in 2009 but was arrested by the Assin Fosu police together with the stool, five days after the theft.

According to him, several attempts by the family to subsequently retrieve the stool from the police have yielded no positive result.
He used the opportunity to call on the IGP to order his men to release the black stool to the family to avoid any future clashes between the police and the aggrieved family.

Meanwhile, the Assin Fosu Divisional police commander, Chief Supt. Henry B.M Bacho, who spoke to Adom News’s Alfred Amoh, explained that he wasn’t in office at the time of the incident.
He, however added that there is no trace of any “black stool” in his handing over note so the family can pursue the case in court.
